The Kittitas County 4-H Council and the Kittitas County 4-H Endowment Trust Fund offer a number of $2,000 scholarships for current or former county 4-H members.

Scholarship applications are due April 1st.

Only one application packet needs to be submitted to be considered for all scholarships.

The Scholarship Selection Committee schedules interviews with applicants within two weeks after the application deadline. Applications will be reviewed and selections made by the Scholarship Selection Committee.

Scholarships will be forwarded to the educational institution of the recipient’s choice upon proof of enrollment. Funds must be spent within 18 months of the announcement of recipients.

No more than one scholarship may be awarded to an applicant.

4-H Endowment Trust Fund Scholarship

Awarded to a graduating senior currently involved in the 4-H Leadership Project.

Jeanette K. Burghart 4-H Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a graduating senior who has been actively engaged in 4-H Know Your Government in the current or previous year(s).

Barbara Schnebly Shaw A Scholarship

Awarded to a graduating senior who excelled in demonstrations and/or club leadership.

Barbara Schnebly Shaw B Scholarship

Awarded to a post-secondary student who excelled in demonstrations and/or club leadership.

Kittitas County 4-H Leader Council A Scholarship

Awarded to a graduating senior who has been actively involved in Kittitas County 4-H at the club and community level.

Kittitas County 4-H Leader Council B Scholarship

Awarded to a graduating senior who has been actively involved in Kittitas County 4-H at the club and community level.

Applicants must:

  • Be a current or former member of Kittitas County 4-H
  • Have a cumulative high school/college GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Intend to pursue post-secondary education through trade school, 2-year college, or 4-year college

Scholarship Application Materials

Applicants must include the following in addition to their application form:

  • A cover letter that introduces the applicant and includes a brief history of their 4-H experience.
  • A resume that includes the applicant’s 4-H involvement.
  • Two letters of recommendation that focus on the applicant’s 4-H involvement, leadership qualities, and community service activities. These letters should not be from family members or leaders who helped with the application process.
  • Current school or college transcripts (can be unofficial).
  • Submit an essay on their 4-H experiences and how they have affected the applicant. The essay should be submitted in 12 point Times New Roman font, double spaced, and no more than 750 words. The essay should include details that cover:
    • how 4-H has allowed the applicant to grow in the core values of head, heart, hands, and health.
    • what challenges the applicant has overcome during their time in 4-H.
    • the community service projects, both within and outside of 4-H, the applicant has engaged in.
    • the applicant’s leadership involvement in 4-H.
    • demonstrations the applicant has presented.
  • The applicant’s most recent completed 4-H Record Book. This Record Book will be reviewed for its completeness, appearance/presentation, and the quality of details it contains.
  • If applicable, the applicant’s most recent Know Your Government 4-H project record.
