Home Fruit Growing Classes
Taught by Raintree staff, edible landscapers, experienced growers and WSU scientists, the classes have become famous for teaching what you need to know to succeed in home fruit growing. Covered are many of the same basic subjects each year, but the content is always new, fun and informative, with plenty of time for answering your questions. If you wish, bring a tape recorder or video camera. Plan time for visiting the nursery!

Gary Moulton, Pomologist & Orchardist instructs this hands-on workshop. Attendees will learn how to make bench grafts and how to topwork a larger tree in an orchard. This is a two part hands-on course. In the first session, you'll be working in the orchards pruning established trees, with hands-on instruction. You'll practice applying pruning theory to trees of different ages. Stone fruits require special handling when pruning, and are pruned just as the fruit sets. In the second class, you'll learn the process of scouting for pest and disease issues, and look at how pruning earlier in the spring is affecting the early growth of the trees.…
