Advanced Stone Fruit Growing

This is a two part hands-on course. In the first session, you’ll be working in the orchards pruning established trees, with hands-on instruction. You’ll practice applying pruning theory to trees of different ages. Stone fruits require special handling when pruning, and are pruned just as the fruit sets. In the second class, you’ll learn the process of scouting for pest and disease issues, and look at how pruning earlier in the spring is affecting the early growth of the trees. Also a look at fruit set, and have a hands-on thinning practicum. Be prepared to be outside.
