Cider & Perry Orcharding (3 class series)

Skagit Valley Gardens, 18923 Peter Johnson Road, Mount Vernon, WA. This workshop will cover orchard maintenance during the dormant season, including winter pruning techniques and equipment. Participants will learn how to plan ahead for pest control, how to acquire a pesticide applicator’s license, when and how to bring in pollinators, and how to protect these key partners from pesticides. Topics also include establishing an orchard from layout and planting, trellis and support systems and specialized irrigation, and techniques nurseries use to propagate trees via grafting.
