Myah Houghten

Myah has worked for over twenty years in socially and culturally diverse settings to assess and enhance the conditions and qualities of those communities. Myah’s role with CAFRU includes research, evaluation, program development, and technical assistance in support of trauma-informed professional development across education and community-based settings. The work requires consistent community outreach, engagement, and capacity development in coordination with the strengths and assets of individuals, families, schools, and whole communities. Myah’s recent research has involved data organization and multilevel analysis using large administrative datasets to explore community and school characteristics that predict school achievement. Myah has earned an M.S. degree in Landscape Architecture from WSU, a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Eastern Washington University and is currently a PhD candidate in the WSU Prevention Science program. Myah grew up in rural northern California which instilled in her a unique curiosity about the bi-directional relationship between humans and the environment. Other areas of interest include geographic analysis; participatory methods; and using interdisciplinary approaches for increased health and wellness among underserved and at-risk populations. In her free time, you can find Myah outdoors enjoying her garden, hiking trails, or splashing around in lakes and rivers.
