4-H Program Policies

Positive youth development programs engage youth within their communities, schools, organizations, peer groups, and families in a manner that is productive and constructive; recognizes, utilizes, and enhances youths’ strengths; and promotes positive outcomes for young people by providing opportunities, fostering positive relationships, and furnishing the support needed to build on their leadership strengths.

We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment where young people can grow, make, serve, and thrive. To ensure consistency, accountability, and the highest standards of youth development, we have established a set of policies and procedures that guide our work with youth and Certified Volunteers.

These policies are designed to promote safety and well-being, support positive youth development, ensure access, clarify roles and responsibilities, and maintain program integrity.

We encourage members, volunteers, and parents/guardians to familiarize themselves with these policies. Together, we can build a program that supports young people in reaching their full potential.

If you have any questions about these policies and procedures, contact your local Extension office.
