Biography
Corina Serban is originally from Romania where she earned her Bachelor of Engineering degree in Landscape Architecture in the Horticulture Faculty at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine located in Cluj-Napoca, the oldest and largest institution of higher agricultural science education in Romania. In 2014 Corina started her 18-month internship with the WTFRC in Yakima WA, working directly with the tree fruit industry. That lead her to pursue a master’s degree in Horticulture in Dr. Lee Kalcsits Lab at WSU TFREC in Wenatchee WA (graduated 2018). Her education and experience at WSU TFREC shaped her career and fueled her passion for helping growers. Currently she is the Tree Fruit Extension Educator leading the Little Cherry Disease Extension and Outreach program, she’s part of the Leadership Team of Little Cherry Disease Taskforce, and a past executive member of the Yakima Pomological Club. Her work focuses on helping growers combat Little Cherry Disease – one of the biggest threats to our industry, causing devastating tree losses leading to big economic impacts.
