WSU Federally Recognized Tribal Extension Program – Kalispel Reservation
The Kalispel FRTEP is located in the NE most corner of the state in a rigged and remote valley. Extension topics are split between both ANR and Y&F units so everything from food systems to tree disease to sewing for teddy bears is a part of this work. The broader emphasis of the grant as below:

– Youth Development and 4-H
– Food Sovereignty
– Natural Resources such as native plants as food and
– Traditional Ecological Knowledge

Because this is a FRTEP program, every component of the work touches on, revives, or reinforces the indigenous culture or language in some way. The Kalispel Tribe leadership is a full partner with us as we strive to serve this community.
