The shared animal project is intended for two 4-H members to jointly care for and show one animal. These two 4-H members may not compete in the same class or lot at an event. (EM0758E (PDF) State Program Policy section 8.5)
Animals must be under the 4-H member’s regular care and management for the following periods of time prior to the official county exhibit activity, including junior livestock shows:
- Market Beef – 120 Days
- Equine, breeding beef, llama, dairy (except dairy heifer replacement) – 90 days
- Dairy heifer replacement, goat, all sheep, all swine, cats, cavy dogs – 60 days
- Poultry and rabbits – 45 days
This agreement is in addition to all other required documents. These would include, enrollments, entry forms, certificates and any other project documents required of club or county.
During the Fair or 4-H show animal care must be dived equally between the two shared members.
Please understand that the shared project animal will be under extra use and therefore extra care must be considered for its health and well-being.
