Versatile Summer & Winter
Beginning to Advanced Weaver
March 6 @ 9:00 am – March 9 @ 5:00 pm
The Summer and Winter weave structure is a tied unit block weave, and has been popular in the United States since the Revolutionary War. Classically one side of the cloth is predominantly dark while the other side is mostly light. Students will study this Block Weave and the many combinations possible: Bricks, “X”s, “O”s, Dukagang, and Taquete, to name a few, on their own loom. Each student will have a choice of a Profile Draft that will be sent with warping instructions before the workshop begins. Class instruction will include basic weaving instruction as well as designing with profile drafts.
Instructor: Patty Huffer
Patty Huffer has been weaving since 1981. After graduating from Central Washington University, with a dual education degree in Home Economics and Physical Education, she took a summer weaving class. This began her love of weaving and teaching others to weave and spin, for almost 40 years.
The love of fibers and teaching others has been a life-long inspiration for her. There are new ideas coming from students and other weavers all the time. She looks forward to the moment when each student, for the first time, understands how a woven piece is constructed resulting in a beautiful, finished product.
