The recent fires have been devastating to our community. We are all hurting for the people who have been displaced or lost their homes. WSU Spokane County Extension would like to spread the word on resources available to those affected by the fires.
If you would like to donate to victims of the fire, there are multiple agencies accepting monetary gifts. Please visit their websites:
- The city of Spokane: H.O.M.E Starts Here Fund (Website)
- Spokane Teacher’s Credit Union is matching donations up to $100,000 Spokane Teacher’s Credit Union (website)
- To support immediate needs, consider the Red Cross: Red Cross | Spokane Wildfires (website)
- Innovia Foundation is a local 501(c)3 agency that states 100% of your tax deductible donation will support impacted individuals and families: Innovia | Wildfire Response
- There are many more organizations doing great work, and accepting in-kind donations such as hygiene supplies, clothes, and pet food.
Please be aware that as with all disasters, there are scams and bad actors attempting to take advantage of people wanting to help, so before giving, please check into anyone soliciting donations for this disaster.
