Lena W. & Sutton
Hello, my name is Lena Wilson, I am 15 years old and I have a steer named Sutton. He’s a Polled Herford. This is my first year, raising a market steer and it has been an experience like no other. This experience has taught me many important things, but the main one is patience. It’s like the quote, “If at first you don’t succeed try and try again.” I’ve had many fails, but they later came with success with enough time and repetition. I’m also an athlete at Friday Harbor high school. I played basketball, volleyball and track. I apply myself greatly and push myself to be the best I can be. I feel the same way about my market steer. I want to make sure he is the best he can be! Thank you for your support at the San Juan County Fair Livestock Auction. It’s people like you who make it possible for me, along with the other kids who also put in hard work. I am so grateful I have this amazing opportunity. Lena

Annabelle F. & Shaun
Emilie F & Cauliflower
Cauliflower was born in early January 2026, in Skagit Valley (Burlington) and purchased from Jonasson Farm in mid-April 2026. Since coming to San Juan Island, he was raised in a barn and pasture on my neighbor’s property. He had access to free-choice alfalfa, Conway Feed’s “lamb creep” (alfalfa pellets and corn) and sweet peas daily. I’ve trained Cauliflower every day since summer break began both challenging and rewarding. He’s been groomed regularly (bathed, sheared, and hooves trimmed) to prepare him for Fair. This is my first year raising a market lamb, and I chose a Suffolk because of its popularity with growers and buyers alike.

Annabelle F with a trio of Plymouth Partridge Rocks
These Partridge Plymouth Rock birds are mahogany brown with black penciling, have a single-combed and yellow feet. They are a dual-purpose, heritage breed known for consistently laying beautiful light brown eggs year-round, except for the coldest winter months. These pullets have been raised on organic Scratch & Peck crumble, grower and layer mash since the day they arrived in the mail from McMurry Hatchery on March 11, 2026. I’ve raised them with care since they were 2-days old, ensuring they had heat, water, feed, love and space to roam.
Emilie F with a trio of Dark Brahmas
These Dark Brahma birds are known to be gentle and exceptionally winter hardy. They are beautiful steel-gray with black penciling, pea combed and have feathered feet. Brahmas are a dual-purpose, Asiatic breed known for laying large brown eggs, especially through the winter months. These pullets have been raised on organic Scratch & Peck crumble, grower and layer mash since the day they arrived in the mail from McMurry Hatchery on March 11, 2026. I’ve raised them with care since they were 2-days old, ensuring they had heat, water, feed, love and space to roam.
