The Perennial Path: A Walk and Talk Series:

Description of garden

This 200 foot mixed perennial border display garden was originally designed and built by Master Gardeners in 1992. In 2015-17, the garden was redesigned, re-irrigated, and replanted except for a few remaining legacy trees. This beautiful garden features both unusual plant specimens and traditional perennials suitable to local residential use.

The purpose of this demonstration garden is to provide public education for home gardeners about good perennial gardening practices, garden design, plant selection and management, and the many benefits of maintaining a perennial garden. It is known as one of the jewels of the Evergreen Arboretum and well known around Puget Sound for both its educational value and its beauty as a display garden.
The project is a collaboration between the WSU Extension Snohomish County Master Gardener Program, the Evergreen Arboretum & Gardens, and the Everett Parks and Recreation Department. For more information and a photo tour, please visit the Arboretum website.

A Walk & Talk Series in the garden, “The Perennial Path”, offers free lectures in the garden.
Rotating plant signage featuring plants in bloom or offering noteworthy visual or botanical interest is provided.

Description of garden

Since 1983 Jennings Park, in Marysville, has been home to the Snohomish County Master Gardeners.  One acre of the park is dedicated to our Demonstration Gardens. There are over 30 different gardens tucked into one acre, with the purpose of sharing our plant knowledge with the public. The garden is a designed to provide a respite and a place to inspire visitors.   There are gardens in full sun, partial shade, and full shade . These gardens were built to help home gardeners to select the right plant for the right place. For those visitors with little to no gardening space, we have a garden called ‘The Backyard Garden’ which shares container gardening techniques.

There are many themed gardens, including the award-winning All-America Selections Garden, English Cottage Garden and the Meditation Garden to name a few.  Each garden has its own charm capturing visitors’ attention and inspiring ideas to implement in their home garden. The vegetable gardens are a place where visitors can learn techniques to grow home produce and admire the well thought out plantings.
