Lawn Alternatives Workshop & Service Party

FreeJoin WSU Thurston County Master Gardener volunteers as they install a creative display of lawn alternatives at the Dirt Works Demonstration Garden. Attendees will learn about different options that provide excellent ground cover, lower maintenance, support pollinators, and look terrific. You will support the installation by planting seeds, transplanting certain species from other places in the garden, and have a chance to ask questions about techniques, plant species, and more. Please dress appropriately for the weather, bring gloves, sunscreen, and water. Shared snacks are welcome.
Important Information:
Anyone, 10 years old and older, is welcome to attend and participate. A completed and signed non-volunteer waiver is required to participate, and forms will be available.
Be advised that there is a baseball tournament scheduled for the same day so parking will be tight. As always, parking at Yauger Park, where Dirt Works Demonstration Garden is located, is first come first serve.

Dirt Works is located at 530 Alta Street SW, Olympia WA 98502
Directions: From the East, take Hwy 101 to the Black Lake Blvd. exit. Turn right off the ramp but stay in your left lane so you can turn left onto Cooper Point Road. Follow Cooper Point Road until you reach Capital Mall Drive SW. Turn Left. Follow Capital Mall Drive until you reach Alta street. Turn right and follow the road into Yauger Park. Dirt Works garden is at the end of the parking lot.
From the West, take Hwy 101 to the Black Lake Blvd. Exit. Turn Left on Black Lake Blvd and go approximately 0.2 miles to Cooper Point Road. Turn Left. Go approximately half a mile to Capital Mall Drive SW. Turn Left. Travel approximately 100 yards from the corner and turn right onto Alta street. Follow the road into Yauger Park. Dirt Works garden is located at the end of the parking lot.
