Going Native, using Native Plants in the Home Garden

July 11 @ 10:00 am 11:00 pm

Native plants offer a resilient, low-maintenance way to garden in Chelan County’s dry climate while supporting the local ecosystem. In this presentation designed for backyard gardeners, you’ll discover how native species are uniquely adapted to thrive in our region and how they provide essential habitat and food for pollinators like bees, butterflies, and birds. We’ll cover the ecological advantages of incorporating natives into your landscape, tips for selecting the right plants for your space, and best practices for keeping them healthy and flourishing over time. The session will conclude with an inspiring tour of the Community Education Garden’s “Natives & More” garden, showcasing these principles in action.
