Learning and Growing

Given our Washington State University heritage, it is not surprising that a major focus of the Extension Master Gardener Program is education. We host “living classrooms” in our Demonstration Gardens in Moses Lake and Othello.

We have a Speakers List with willing Master Gardeners able to teach children and adults about horticultural principles and practices.

We host an annual gardening symposium that brings relevant speakers to talk about issues of concern to the urban and rural public that we serve here in eastern Washington. See registration near the top of this page.

Master Gardeners are enthusiastic about answering questions and conscientiously judging specimens.

We answer questions at plant clinics and judge fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers at fairs.

We maintain a lending seed repository at the Ephrata Public Library. The Seed Library provides opportunities for people to check out seeds and return enough seeds at the end of the season to ensure that there are seeds for future years to keep the library going.

And, we assemble and prepare articles for our quarterly newsletter that comes out in March, June, August, and November with timely topics, articles, and announcements. Past issues can be accessed through this website.

Speakers at the annual symposium discuss relevant topics.
