Bird Gardening in the Pacific NW: How to Provide for Birds in your Yard

January 12, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Presenter Steve Hampton

Steve has been birding since he was seven years old and gardening most of his adult life. In addition to growing about 30 different fruits, vegetables and herbs in his yard in Port Townsend, he has seen over 180 bird species within a mile of his home. He worked for California Department of Fish & Wildlife for 25 yrs, where he was involved in oil spill response, natural resource damage assessment, seabird restoration, and partnerships with Native communities. When he’s not out gardening or birding, he writes and crunches numbers, combining his love of birds with a Ph.D. in resource economics to analyze bird data, particularly with regard to climate change.

Join the Foundation meeting to hear birder Steve Hampton share which trees and plants are important for local bird species, and how to turn your yard into habitat that supports them.
