Are you interested in working with your community to maintain one of your neighborhood’s beautiful green infrastructure solutions?
WSU Jefferson County Extension is excited to offer an in-person workshop in Port Townsend as a companion to the free online rain garden training program now available for homeowners and non-professionals offered by the Washington Stormwater Center (https://tinyurl.com/ypxd37pv).
This in-person workshop is on Thursday, May 23rd from 10 am – 12:30 at the Cotton Building and in the field rain gardens located in downtown Port Townsend. The workshop includes a presentation by a local landscape designer on rain garden care and maintenance. Following the presentation, the class will break into teams for a hands-on activity structured to get you familiar with anatomy of a rain garden and the metrics for assessing rain garden health.

10:15 – 10:55 AM: Considerations ~ Soils, Plants, Watering, Weeding and Deer
10:55 – 11:00 AM: Break
11:00 – 11: 15 AM: Assessment video
11:15 – 12:20 PM: Rain Garden Assessments: in-field activity
