Livestock Advisors Farm Tour: Jo’s Fleece Fields

April 8, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

The Livestock Advisor Program is offering this free farm tour. Please visit farmtours.brownpapertickets.com to register.

Hosts: Don and Jodi Stanwyck
Jo’s Fleece Fields is a small family farm (6.5 acres) dedicated to raising the finest natural fibers and producing eggs from uncaged poultry. Our fiber production is through a herd of 30 huacaya alpacas and 30 fiber goats (commercially cashmere and mohair production). We also maintain flocks of chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys from which we collect eggs. Egg sales are to subscribed customers.

The farm tour at Jo’s Fleece Fields will include time meeting the various animals and some time spent discussing the fiber we produce. Well provide an opportunity to engage in a fiber craft so those on the tour will be able to make and take a small memento of their visit. Our farm store will also be open for those who want to see the rovings, yarns, rug yarns, rugs, scarves, and other items make from our fiber. We’ll also cover farm operation, composting, farm management practices, and what we do to be the most responsible livestock owners we can be. If you’re interested in seeing what you can do with a small acreage and an interest in livestock this may be the tour for you.
