Ferns of Texas (CE, $35)

November 20, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

$35

Texas has the largest diversity of Pteridophytes in the continental US. The state’s large size and diverse range of habitats allow for hardy to sub-tropical ferns to be found within its borders as well as dry land to bog loving ferns. Darla Harris has a great love for ferns, especially Texan natives; as an avid grower of ferns for over 35 years, Darla has collected more than 500 different varieties. She enjoys the challenge of growing both tropical and hardy ferns in the Houston area climate, but her passion is learning how the ferns grow in nature and then attempting to duplicate their environment.  Darla is the founder and owner of Fern Plantation Nursery, with over 200 different ferns and more being added all the time, it is the largest retail fern nursery in the Houston area with over 15,000 sq. ft. of greenhouse space and growing.

This Zoom lecture is a free benefit for members of the Hardy Fern Foundation, but registration is required. A recording of the webinar will be available to those who register for two weeks after the webinar date.
