Participation in showing the animal throughout the year, including out of county shows. Demonstrate to program leader, a knowledge of sound cat care, health and safety to include all diseases which cats can be vaccinated against. Presentation of a healthy, well-conditioned, well groomed animal in all showmanship events. Participation in contests such as posters, judging, and cat bowl.
Learning Experiences (20 points)
Attend clinics and seminars on cat care, judging, diseases, etc. Organize and/or attend vet clinics and breed clinics. Continued improvement in handling, grooming and health care of animal. Attend Project Leader meetings.
Knowledge and Skills (10 points)
Presentation at cat clinic (club level acceptable). Area demonstration on cat topics. Participation in cat bowl and judging. Maintain accurate and up-to-date 4-H record book.

Organize and participate in community service projects in the local area related to cats (i.e. nursing home visits, vaccination clinics, fund raising for cat rescue programs).

Knowledge of own breed is complete. Member continues to grow in the project by breeding or expanding into other breeds. Consistent participation in own club, at clinics, at county shows and fairs. Member has substantial responsibilities in the form of Show Secretary, organizing and executing clinics, shows, fairs and judging contests throughout the year. Must attend and support 80% of cavy program functions and events.
Size and Scope – Other Projects
Participation in at least one other project such as, Vet Science, Leadership, Foods, Creative Arts, Ambassadors or any project that helps enrich the involvement in the Cavy Program and helps develop a well rounded 4H member. Record book should reflect active participation in these other projects.

Shows growth in the variety and depth of the learning experiences undertaken each year in this project. Knowledge of cavy health care and diseases complete. Continued improvement in handling and showing techniques. Learn to do and participate in health check at shows and fairs. Learn to create exceptional educational poster, etc.

Member must show consistent participation and skill in contests such as educational posters and displays, bowl, quizdown, as well as judging contests and showmanship. Learn to do table and show secretary functions and use these skills regularly throughout the year.

Participation in citizenship opportunities such as Know Your Government, tour local county and state government offices, attend public meetings, community concerns, assist a political candidate, help immigrants become American citizens. Learn about how government functions at local, state, and national levels; how transportation, communications, utilities and religion play a role in your community. Find ways your club can help the community. Be familiar with how your club functions, including parliamentary procedures. Demonstrate respect of our flag, other people and their opinions, and property. Assist in cleaning up along the roadside.
Size and Scope – Other Projects
Community Service – help collect food and clothing for needy families, help flood or storm victims locally or in other parts of the country or even internationally, help physically challenged children, help adopt a family, adopt a grandparent (give gifts and visit regularly). Conduct a community safety program, help others – send cards to hospitalized young people, volunteer at nursing homes, conduct a clean-up litter campaign.
Learning Experiences – Main Project
Be aware of issues, such as Pet Ownership Responsibilities, Adopt a Stream. Be an informed citizen, learn from radio, TV, newspapers and magazines. Conduct a voter information/registration drive, write letters to county and state legislators or congressmen voicing your opinion on issues. Work with agencies in your community. Become pen pals with people of other countries.
Knowledge and Skills – Main Project
Organize Youth at Risk activities, help other members to see the problems that arise through abuse of illegal drugs and alcohol. Be a friend. Set a good example for others to follow.

A. Volunteer Leadership-Creative Arts Project
Specific Project Examples: Assisting leaders/members at club or county levels by demonstrating techniques, teaching skills, organizing activities, and helping at 4-H clinics, competitions, fairs, shows, etc.
Section III – Experiences in 4-H Citizenship
A. Citizenship
Specific Project Examples: Promoting 4-H Performing Arts. Volunteering to perform. Showing an interest in local performing art functions.
Achievement Pin Applications must be submitted to the Extension Office for county judging with an up to date 4-H Record Book. Judging will be done by County Program Leader and one other member of the County Program Board.
This project typically requires 2-4 years to achieve the depth of experience and knowledge required to earn a pin.
Section I – Projects and Activities
Size and Scope – Photography Project
- General Criteria: Shows growth and progress within the project activities.
- Specific Examples: Shows effort and involvement throughout each year of the project, including participating in club and county workshops, expanding skill level as reflected in entries at fair and other contests, and participating in judging contests.
Size and Scope – Other Projects
- General Criteria: Shows interest, involvement, and progress in other 4H projects (not related to achievement pin nomination project).
- Examples of complementary projects: Leadership, Creative Arts, Natural Resources.
Learning Experiences – Photography Project
- General Criteria: Shows growth in the variety and depth of learning experiences undertaken each year in the project. Participates in club and county meetings.
- Specific project examples: Maintains 4H record book showing activities and achievements in project workshops, demonstrations, judging contests, and competitions. Shows progress in 4-H photography workbooks and related materials. Participates in non-4-H contests (e.g., PTA annual “Reflections” contest, photo magazine contests, community art contests).
Learning Experiences – Other Projects
- General Criteria: Shows growth in the variety and depth of learning experiences each year. Attends club and county project meetings.
Knowledge and Skills – Main Project
- General Criteria: Demonstrates progress in depth and breadth of photographic knowledge acquired and increasing proficiency in photographic skills.
- Specific Examples: Shows steady improvement in understanding and applying photographic knowledge (e.g., depth of field, composition, available light techniques) and skills (e.g. use of manual SLR with interchangeable lenses, flash, tripod, filters).
Section II – Experiences in Leadership
(Enrollment in the Leadership Project is not required, but is strongly recommended.)
Volunteer Leadership-Photography Project
- Club Level: Helps new project members or club leaders by demonstrating photographic techniques, teaching skills, leading discussions or photography workbook exercises, and/or organizing photography project activities.
- County Level: Helps members/leaders at workshops, contests, Fair, and other county Photography Project activities.
Other Volunteer Leadership
- 4-H: Shows leadership in other projects, assists club/project leaders, participates in Ambassadors.
- Other: Shows leadership in school, church, or other organizations.
Elected/Appointed Leadership
Holds or has held club/county offices or chaired committees; committee participation.
4-H Promotional Leadership
Encourage new members to join 4-H and help them feel welcome in their club; gives talks on 4-H to other groups; makes posters promoting 4-H; organizes/participates in public information and/or membership recruitment events, etc.
Section III – Experiences in 4-H Citizenship
Photography Project Citizenship
- Displays helpful, cooperative attitude at club and county project activities.
- Participates in project related fund raising events.
- Increases public awareness of 4H photography Project.
- Uses photographic skills to benefit school, church, community groups (e.g. yearbook photographer, class historian, taking pictures at church events.
Community Service
Participates in 4H club and/or county activities, such as food bank fund raisers, community clean-up events, nursing home visits, etc.
Non 4-H Experiences
- Participates in service activities as member of church, school, or other no 4-H groups. Judging will be done by County Program Leader and one other member of the County Program Board.

Specific Project Examples: Learn how to recognize show quality birds, what to look for in keep or cull birds, how to properly take care of birds, what to look for in production hens.

Size and Scope (20 points)
Specific Project Examples: Attendance and/or participation in 4-H sponsored small-animal shows, clinics and/or workshops; attendance and/or participation in ARBA sanctioned shows and/or workshops; participation in rabbit-oriented competition – to include displays, public speaking (demonstrations), and posters; number and breed(s) of animal(s); breeding, expanding stock, and/or marketing.
Learning Experiences (20 points)
Specific Project Examples: Show, clinic, and/or workshop attendance, participation and/or assistance; nutrition (feeding program) study; genetics (breeding program); veterinary clinic attendance.
Knowledge and Skills (10 points)
Specific Project Examples: Club and/or clinic demonstrations; participation in rabbit bowls, quiz-downs, and/or judgings; rabbit pelt tannings; slaughtering and butchering for meat production; wool collection and spinning.
Section II – Experiences in Leadership
Volunteer Leadership (20 points)
Specific Project Examples: Leadership within the club: teen leadership; assisting younger members in preparing animals (and themselves) to exhibit in fitting and showing and in type classes; organizing field trips; organizing herdsmanship; etc. Leadership at a County level: assists at county shows, clinics, fairs; show and/or table secretary; fitting & Showing judge; Ambassadors, Project meeting participation. Leadership outside 4-H (i.e. in school, church, other organizations, etc.)
Elected/Appointed Leadership (3 points)
Specific Project Examples: Club, County, State, or National office held or committee participation within 4-H, ARBA, Breed Specialty club, or other rabbit related club.
Promotional Leadership (2 points)
Specific Project Examples: Promote participation in the 4-H Rabbit Project; Promote rabbits as meat animals and as pets; promote wool and/or fur production; promote research; public demonstration on the care and handling of rabbits (animal welfare); etc.
Section III – 4-H Citizenship
4-H Citizenship Activities (20 points)
Specific Project Examples: Promote rabbits as meat animals and as pets; promote wool and/or fur production; promote research; public demonstrations on the care and handling of rabbits (animal welfare); etc.; support open rabbit clubs: ARBA, WSRBA, Cascade Rabbit Breeders, Northwest Rabbit Breeders, Breed Specialty Club (also membership in these and similar rabbit organizations).
Non 4-H Citizenship Activities (5 points)
Service activities involved in as a result of church, school, or other non 4-H-group participation.
Achievement Pin Applications must be submitted to the Extension Office for county judging with an up to date 4-H Record Book. Those choosing the interview option must turn in the application and will be notified of an interview time. Judging will be done by two of the following: Program Leader, Superintendent, Project Leader designated by the Program Leader.
This project typically requires 4 years (Excluding primary years) to achieve the depth of experience and knowledge required to earn a pin.

Size and Scope – Main Project
Specific Project Examples: Must show participation in all sewing areas (e.g., – Home Décor, Clothing Construction, ChildCare, Needlecraft). Show effort and involvement throughout each year of the project, including participation in club and county workshops, expanding skill level as reflected in entries and contest participation at Evergreen State Fair. Maintain an up-to-date permanent record that reflects your growth in a variety of learning experiences. Participation in the Sewing High Point Contest.
Size and Scope – Other Projects
Specific Requirements: Participation in at least one other project. Examples of complementary projects: Leadership, creative arts, or any project that enriches the involvement in the sewing program and develops a well-rounded 4-H member. Permanent record should reflect active participation in these other projects. Member should also explain how sewing skills are of use in another 4-H project.
Learning Experiences – Main Project
Specific project examples: Attend clinics and workshops presented by the Sewing Program during the 4-H year. Construct a variety of projects using new skills. Seek help from those proficient in the skill area.
Knowledge and Skills – Main Project
Specific Project Requirements: Demonstrate progress of project knowledge and skills by participation in judging, bowl contests and preparing informational posters. Up-to-date permanent record or record book (using county guidelines).
Section II – Experiences in Leadership
Volunteer Leadership – Sewing Project
Specific Project Requirements: Help new project members or leaders by demonstrating techniques, leading discussions and organizing project activities. Help members and leaders at workshops, contests, Evergreen State Fair and other county project activities.
Section III – Experiences in 4-H Citizenship
Citizenship
Make posters promoting 4-H; organize and participate in public information and/or membership recruitment events, etc. Display a helpful, cooperative attitude at club and county project activities. Enter items in community service category at Evergreen State Fair or make and donate items to charity. Be involved in other service activities as a result of church, school or other non-4-H group participation.

Learning Experiences – Main Project
Specific Project Examples: Attend and help with clinics on sheep management, fitting and showing, health care, and vet clinics. Participate in nutrition studies.
Knowledge and Skills – Main Project
Specific Project Examples: Participation in sheep and livestock bowls, and judging clinics. Demonstrate understanding of financial aspects of project through add sheets in record book. Growth in plans for project improvements (breeding housing, care).
Section II – Experiences in Leadership
Volunteer Leadership-Sheep Project
Specific Project Examples: Assist younger members in preparing animals for show. Team leader on herdsmanship. Help leaders plan and teach sheep clinics. Organize field trips. Help with county events, and demonstration days.
Section III – Experiences in 4-H Citizenship
Citizenship
Specific Project Examples: Help with lamb taste-test events. Help with wool pool shipping days, shearing schools, etc. Volunteer to help leaders and superintendents at Fair spinning and sheep programs, contests, and demonstrations. Volunteer to help with information booth at the fair.

Learning Experiences – Main Project
Specific Project Examples: Attend clinics on Swine management and care. Judging clinics, Vet. Clinics try new fitting techniques. Public Presentations.
Knowledge and Skills – Main Project
Specific Project Examples: Participation in Swine Bowl. Demonstrations on swine related topics. Accurate completion of swine add sheets in record book, producing a profit in the project. Continued improvement in handling and fitting animals.
Section II – Experiences in Leadership
Volunteer Leadership-Swine Project
Specific Project Examples: Assist younger/new members in fitting animals for show. Organize swine field trip. Invite speaker on swine related topics.
Section III – Experiences in 4-H Citizenship
Citizenship
Specific Project Examples: Support Pork Producers raffle, promote use of pork. Demonstrations on safety when around livestock. Join Pork Producers or Breed Associations and support their activities.

Size and Scope – Technology Project
Overall project involvement including participation at the fair. General knowledge of hardware, software applications, troubleshooting, robotics and programming. Project documentation (record book) must show personal growth by the quality and difficulty of work throughout the year.
Size and Scope – Other Projects
Participation in any 4-H project which develops well-rounded interests and skills in the 4-H member. Record book should reflect active participation in these other projects. Other projects are not limited to, but suggested to be, leadership and citizenship which can also reflect technology interests.
Learning Experiences – Technology Project
Maintain an up to date record book, which shows growth in the variety and depth of the learning experience undertaken each year within this project. Participation in County workshops, events and competitions. Stays current on developing technology.
Learning Experiences – Other Projects
Member’s record book shows participation in another 4-H project.
Knowledge and Skills – All Project
Overall growth in project, including consistent participation and skill in competitions and contests. Area level Public Presentation is mandatory for the year in which the pin is applied for, and recommended for all years. Participation in all projects should be appropriate for age/maturity level.
Section II – Experiences in Leadership
Volunteer Leadership-Technology Project
Club and County level leadership must be demonstrated. Assists newer members, assists leaders in conducting educational classes and/or workshops. Assists at fair in running booth and fair activities. Volunteer leadership can also include non-4-H leadership at school, church or other organizations.
Elected/Appointed Leadership
Held office or chaired committees, committee participation. Duties of position must have been performed as per job description.
4-H Promotional Leadership
Encourage new members to join 4-H. Help new members become familiar with 4-H and the Technology Project. Talk about 4-H to non-4-H groups. Participate in public 4-H events.
Section III – Experiences in 4-H Citizenship
Citizenship Activities
Demonstrate a pleasant, cooperative, helpful attitude. Promote a positive attitude among your fellow club members. Participate in club fund-raising projects and other functions that promote the club to the public. Become involved with community service projects within the club or county.
Non 4-H Experiences
Community service and citizenship involvement as a result of school, church or other functions not related to 4-H.

Assist younger members to learn Veterinary Science. Assist with Fair, County Volunteer Program, Vet Science Committees, Bowls, Tours, Clinics and Contests. Present Vet Science topics to Club.
Section III – Experiences in 4H Citizenship
Citizenship
Promote responsible pet ownership and care. Animal Safety, Pet Food Bank donation, Vaccination Clinics.
