Since 2014, we have teamed up with the Juvenile Justice Center and created a living classroom. There is an outdoor garden where the youth housed at the center and teens on work release, get to learn weeding, planting, watering and other tasks. The garden consist of eight beds and there is even a hoop house that extends the growing season.
If the teens are not allowed outside, then we go inside to them. There is a classroom inside, complete with indoor grow lights and live plants. Besides giving the kids skills and something positive to do, the garden grows around 1,500 lbs of food for local food banks every year!
