1st Saturday Workshop – Composting and More
June 6, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
free1st Saturday Workshop with the Master GardenersComposting and More
Saturday, June 6, from 10:00 AM to 1;00 PM at the WSU Extension Master Gardener Demonstration Garden at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds.
The Master Gardeners will offer a fun, hands-on workshop on composting. Several kinds of composting will be discussed, including traditional and worm composting. At noon the workshop will transition to the hands-on activity — creating a composting berm or hugelkultur which uses large woody material to create a plant-able berm that mimics forest decomposition. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather/activity and bring gloves and be ready for some fun.
The hands-on activity will go until 1:00 PM. Please be aware that the Elma High School Graduation will be held at the fairgrounds Pavilion starting at 1:00 PM. This should not create a parking problem for workshop participants.
After the workshop, visit the PLANT CLINIC from noon to 2 PM, at the same location, to get your questions about plant problems, insects and other gardening topics answered. Carol Burich and team will be there to research any questions you might have. If you do have a plant question, please bring a sample of that plant with you, preferably in a sealed plastic bag.
