4-H Clover Report

June 1st, 2017

Dear 4-H Members,

Dates to know!

  • June 1st Non Swine Breed Entry Cards Due to the Fair Office by 5:00 pm OR scan and email them to info@skamaniafair.com.  Emailed photos will be accepted if legible.
  • June 5th 4-H Council Meeting 6:30pm at the Hegewald Center in Stevenson.
  • June 9th & 10th Wine Country Classic Dairy Goat Show & Youth Showmanship Specialty at the Benton County Fairgrounds.
  • June 17th Market Sheep/Goat Weigh In & Market Rabbit Tagging 9:00am – 11:00am
  • June 17th All Goat, Sheep, Rabbit, Chicken, Cat, Dog, & Dairy Heifer Project Certificates Due.  Certificates are on our website here: http://extension.wsu.edu/skamania/youth/4-h-project-specific-resources/.
  • June 17th Clover Classic 4-H & Open Youth Horse Show Franklin County Saddle Club in Pasco, WA. $30 for pre-registration, $5 per medals class.
  • June 24th Super Saturday of Judging Registration 8 AM, Orientation 9 AM at 410 Austin Rd, Goldendale.  Traveling Judging clinic on horses, mini horses, goats, swine, sheep, beef, rabbits, cavies, clothing & food.  See the flyer in our resources section.   • June 24th & 25th “The Walkabout Tour” featuring Clinton Anderson $25 Free tickets available at the   4-H Office.  First come, first serve.
  • June 26th – 30th Klickitat County 4-H Still Life Camp 9am-Noon.  $25 for the entire camp or $10 per day.  Register by June 19th
  • June 28th Dog & Cat Posters due at the 4-H Office.
  • July 8th – 9th Gorge Games Fundraiser Show Save the date! More information coming soon.
  • July 10th – 12th 4-H Youth Summer Horse Camp in Klickitat County. $150 per rider.  If you have questions, contact Martha Parsons at 509-365-4267 or 509-637-4016, or Pat Shamek at 541- 993-9560.
  • July 14th & 15th Northwest Junior Sheep Exposition (NWJSE) at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Moses Lake.    Entry forms due by June 15th.
  • July 17th – 20th YA4-H! Food Summer Day Camp FREE summer day camp for youth who have graduated from 2nd – 6th grade. Goldendale Grange Hall.  Contact Linda Enderby at (509) 773-3381, Stephanie Shamek at (509) 637-6250 or Pat Shamek at (541) 993-9560.

General Information

  • Take a couple of minutes and report your hours for May here: http://ext.wsu.edu/Volunteers/logon.aspx.  Your username is your email and your password is “password!” without the quotation marks.
  • Pending Adults – Any adults not currently approved in 4HOnline are not 4-H Volunteers and are not allowed to serve in any official capacity.  If you need assistance completing your enrollment or if you want to check your status please contact the 4-H Office.

In Other News 

YA4-H Summer Day Camp registration is open for registration!  This FREE YA4-H! Summer Day Camp runs from July 17th – 20th (Monday – Thursday) 2:00-4:00pm.   At the Hegewald Center Auditorium located at 710 Rock Creek Drive Stevenson, WA 98370.   Daily Activities include: Games, Healthy Snacking, Cooking, & Hands on Learning!
For youth who have just completed 2nd to 6th grade.  
Space is limited so contact Abby Brandt today at brandt@co.skamania.wa.us or 509-427-3932 to register.  Please feel free to share this event. Youth do not need to be enrolled in 4-H to participate!
