Did you know that you can go to different countries with 4-H?
In 4-H there is so much stuff that you can do, but it doesn’t get used to its fullest. I didn’t know it was a thing I could do, until I was at an informational event for 4-H at the WSU campus in Everett. As I was in one of the classes they offered, we finished early, so someone began to talk about an exchange program that I knew nothing about. I got interested in it, so I looked it up and realized that if I did it, it would be one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.
I went to Japan but there are so many other places you can go like Costa Rica, Norway, Korea, Taiwan, and Argentina.
Find out about the opportunities at the website for the exchange program. You can also do yearlong programs with 2 different organizations that 4-H partners with in Japan. Also, Japan has an 8-week program and a 4-week program in the summer.
During these programs one of the main things that you should come back with is that we are a part of a bigger world, and that there is so much more than just where you are. This is just one part of what it means to be a global citizen and is something that you can learn and understand what is happening around the world.
