About Us

Asotin County Master Gardener Program

Our programs provide education and information to the public and include the following:

Plant Clinics

We offer various plant clinics throughout the community. From May through September you can find us each Wednesday from 10 AM to 1 PM in the basement of the Asotin County Courthouse. We are also available at other events in the community. Bringing a sample and pictures helps in diagnosing the issue. For dates and times, please contact Janice at jreed@asotincountywa.gov.

Community Horticulture Classes

The Master Gardeners hold workshops educating the public about various horticultural issues. Watch the calendar of events and local media for dates. Check the calendar for events.

Community Presentations, Fact Sheets and Articles

The Asotin County Master Gardeners are available to give presentations on various topics. The Master Gardener office has a wide variety of publications, articles and fact sheets available.

Asotin County Fair

The Asotin County Fair is held the last full weekend in April. Master Gardeners are available to answer gardening questions while you enjoy the fair. Our booth is located at the Street Fair in downtown Asotin. You can also see us in the parade!

Working with Youth

The Master Gardeners teach 4th grade youth at local schools how to grow their own garden and about worm composting.  During the annual Extension Youth Activity Camp, held for one week each summer, kids learn all about gardening, weather, birds, bugs and more!

Demo Garden

The Asotin County Master Gardeners maintain a Demonstration Garden at the Clarkston Community Garden. Our goal is to grow, test, educate ourselves and the public on best planting practices, varieties, and methods of successful gardening in an increasing arid climate. We are also a resource to the Community Garden organization, who rent us space in the form of raised beds, hoops, and trellis system. Visit the Clarkston community garden website at www.clarkstongarden.com.
