Evaluating Mason Bee Cocoons

October 12, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join us on October 12 at 10:00 am when Billie Bevers, Washington State University Master Gardener will present a workshop on how to evaluate mason bees cocoons for disease. During the spring and summer other bees, diseases and parasites can invade mason bee nests.  This two hour session is a “hands on” active and fun class to help you identify what’s in your mason bee tubes and blocks. There will be cocoons you can evaluate if you don’t have your own. Information on overwintering your bees and creating containers for their long sleep will be presented.  Bring your questions and a paper bag to carry home your cocoons. The program sponsored by Washington State University Extension will be held at the Cowlitz County Training Center, 1942 First Avenue in Longview.  Class registration is $10.00 (collected at class) and limited to 30 people.  For more information, contact Carlee Dowell at 577-3014, Ext 0 or .
