4-H Youth Beekeeping Program – Grays Harbor and Mason County

Grays Harbor/ Mason County 4-H Youth Beekeeping Program

We are officially kicking off our new 4-H youth beekeeping program! Our first meeting will be Sunday, November 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the WSU Extension Office in Elma, Washington. This will be an information session for 4-H members and families to come learn about the program, talk about bees, and see if it is something they would like to be involved in. Register below or with the following link for the 4-H Youth Beekeeping Program.

4-H Youth Beekeeping Program - Grays Harbor & Mason County

We have been working on a year-long curriculum that follows the Western Washington the beekeeping season. Meetings will include hands-on Bee Labs covering bee biology, equipment, feeding, swarm management, bee friendly plants, Varroa monitoring, honey extraction, winter preparation, and more. The program is open to youth at all comfort levels. Kids do not have to handle live bees to participate. For those who want to work directly with the hives, we have developed a progression from Hive Explorer to Hive Observer, Hive Assistant, Hive Handler, and Hive Leader, allowing them to take on more responsibility as they gain knowledge and demonstrate safe beekeeping skills.
