4-H Leaders Council Youth Opportunity Grant

Pierce County 4-H Youth Opportunity Grants are offered by the WSU Pierce County 4-H Leaders Council (hereafter Council) to encourage our 4-H youth to participate in 4-H experiences, educational opportunities, and national events. (If you are requesting more than $300.00, also complete the Additional Funds Grant Application.)

Eligibility

The youth must be currently enrolled and participating as a Pierce County 4-H member.    4-H club membership is available to all youths (7-19 years of age) without discrimination. Evidence of noncompliance may be reported to your local Extension Office.

Conditions

Total grants received by any one 4-H member may not exceed $300 in any given 4-H year. An Additional Funds Grant is also available for national events over $300.  The 4-H year is from October 1 to September 30.  Recipients of a Council Youth Opportunity Grant should be prepared to share their experiences with others. Here is a list of ways to give back.

Application Requirements

  • 4-H Member must be in good standing
  • Online applications must be complete and submitted prior to the event.
  • Grant Applications must be received before the Council meeting prior to the event.  The Council meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month.

Selection Process

  • The reasons given for wanting to attend the event.
  • The explanation of how you plan to better serve 4-H and the community after attending.
  • Availability of grant funds.

If this is not the first grant being applied for, what community service, leadership or help has been rendered since receiving the last grant?

All applications will be reviewed by the Pierce County 4-H Leaders Council for approval based on funds available.  For on-line registration and qualified expenses, receipts will be required, and reimbursement will be made after the event.
