Educational Displays and Posters

Spring is a great time to create posters to educate the public in the barns at the Pierce County Fair. Each member can submit up to 4 posters, each from a different project. Among these, members may include a 4-H Promotion poster and/or a General Safety poster.

Things to consider when creating Educational Displays:

  • 4-H Requirements: Is the 4-H Clover correct color, shape, and marked with “18 U.S.C. 707” along the lower right leaf edge?  Check the 4-H Name and Emblem Use Guide . Does 4-H have the hyphen (“-“)?
  • Clear Message: Ensure the poster communicates the intended message clearly and effectively.
  • Visually Appealing: Use bright colors, neat lettering, and eye-catching designs to grab attention. Erase all of your draft pencil marks and don’t leave too much blank space.
  • Informative Content: Include relevant facts, tips, or instructions that are easy to understand and informative.
  • Appropriate Size: Make sure the poster is large enough to be visible from a distance, but not too overwhelming.
  • Creativity: Use creativity to make the poster stand out while keeping the information organized and focused.
  • Project Relevance: Ensure that each poster aligns with the project it represents and adds value to the fairgoers’ experience.
  • Legibility: Use large, readable fonts and avoid overcrowding the poster with too much text or too many images. Are all your words neat and spelled correctly?
  • Proper Labeling: Include the necessary titles, captions, and any required credit for images or sources are listed on the back of the poster. Make sure your reference links go to the correct page. It is sometimes ok to use your project leader as a reference. (i.e. 4-H Promotion poster).
