Cultivating community: Gardens that feed

Community Garden sign

Seeking to contribute to food security? Community Gardens bring people together to cultivate their own food. Washington State University Master Gardeners actively participate in numerous community gardens, imparting invaluable tips and techniques to boost yields and tackle pesky gardening challenges. These collaborative green spaces offer convenient access to wholesome, locally-grown produce, addressing food insecurity across the state while fostering a sense of community.

Community Gardens across Pierce County

Extension Master Gardeners teach sustainable food gardening practices using research-backed information. In Pierce County, we’ve established relationships with several Community Gardens, where we come together to learn and grow fresh, nutrient-rich produce. Additionally, we encourage gardeners to donate surplus harvests to local food banks.
