Master Gardener Foundation of Pierce County (MGFPC) is a 501c3 non-profit organization aligned with the Pierce County Extension Master Gardeners organization of Washington State University. WSU is restricted from funding some activities which are essential to furthering the Master Gardener mission. This foundation was created to fill that funding gap so that we can bring more services and have a greater impact within the communities of Pierce County.

Our Foundation Board

The Board consists of Master Gardener volunteers who vote on the important financial decisions that keep the Foundation focused on our Mission of supporting the Pierce County Master Gardeners. The Executive Committee is comprised of a President; Vice-President; Treasurer and Secretary. Other board members represent key functions like our Plant Sale, Sharon Ballard Community Grant Program and investments in technology to support the program.

Plant Sale

You might know Master Gardeners just from our Annual Plant Sale.  We spend about eight months of volunteering efforts per year just so we can create a ‘Pop-up Nursery’ on the last weekend of April.  We sell thousands of plants in just those two days.  People from all over the county come to shop.  The proceeds from the sale provide much of the funding for our programs here in Pierce County.  If you have shopped at a plant sale, thank you for your support.  If you haven’t… mark your calendar for the last weekend in April and plan to stop by.

Sharon Ballard Community Garden Grants

Established in memory of Pierce County Master Gardener Sharon Ballard, this program aims to amplify Sharon’s interest in community gardens.  It is designed to provide financial assistance to help set up or maintain community gardens in Pierce County with Master Gardener involvement and support.
