4-H Livestock Weigh-In & 4-H Day a Big Success
On May 30, San Juan County 4-H youth, families, and volunteers gathered at the fairgrounds for a fun and productive Livestock Weigh-In & 4-H Day. With around 50 participants from across the islands, the event was full of hands-on learning and connection.
Youth completed their livestock weigh-ins while practicing handling and showmanship skills, and participated in clinics for goats, cavies, and poultry. Still life members explored creative projects like posters, photography, and art, while all participants had the chance to build their judging and public speaking skills.
A highlight of the day was hearing from a local meat processing professional, who shared insights about careers in agriculture. Youth also connected with community leaders and had the opportunity to share their 4-H experiences.
Families and volunteers described the day as a huge success. Most importantly, youth left feeling more confident, better prepared for the fair, and excited about their projects.

2026 4-H Fair Superintendents Needed!
4-H Families – We need your help!
For the fair this year there are the following department vacancies:
- Assistant Livestock Superintendent (LeAnne will be main livestock super)
- Performing Arts Superintendent
If you, someone in your family, or someone you know might be interested in filling one of these roles please let Clinton know.
