4-H Project Resources

This page has resources for individual projects.

4-H Record of Work (Resume)

The Skamania County Fair requires a record book for participation that is different from the traditional 4-H record book that is used across the state. As a result, the 4-H permanent record book does not completely align with the information typically collected and reported on.

We want to encourage 4-H’ers to practice their record-keeping skills, and develop a portfolio that demonstrates their learning and their hard work each year. For 2026, we are going to utilize the 4-H Member’s Personal Portfolio from Michigan State University Extension to begin our new 4-H Record of Work project. This portfolio is OPTIONAL. If your 4-H’er chooses to complete this packet, they can be turned in to the Exhibit Hall for judging at fair. They can be entered under the 4-H Education division, class 3 (4-H Record of Work).

Beginning in the 2026-2027 4-H year, we will adapt this resource to align more closely with Skamania County 4-H opportunities, as well as those provided by Washington State 4-H.

*Note- this packet includes information in the beginning for volunteers and 4-H members on how to complete the information and elevate their record keeping. The customizeable portion begins on page 9.

2026 4-H/Fair Record Books

4-H Record Books and the Skamania County Record Reports were combined in 2025. Now, all projects use a similar format, and add projects specific records for their animal/project types to their book. Record Books are turned into your respective barn at work day for judging.

Below are the PDF files for this year’s record books. Google templates will be provided soon for those who wish to type directly into the form.

Animal Certificates:

All 4-H’ers should keep animal certificates for their projects each year. It is an important part of record keeping and accountability, and is needed regardless of fair participation.

For the 2021-2022 year, we have joined forced with the fair board to reduce the quantity of forms required and steps needed for participating in fair. Instead of completing an animal certificate, an entry form, and a green card, there is one digital form that replaces them all. These will be due by Saturday, May 28th, 2022 and the links to each form can be found on the fair page. These are required for both breed and market projects. Note: Horse and Market rabbit have different deadlines.

If you would like to keep a traditional animal certificate, you can download the file below and the 4-H Program Coordinator would be happy to sign and return to you at fair.
