The WSU Extension Master Gardener Program slogan is “Volunteer Community Educators—cultivating plants, people, and communities since 1973.”

Master Gardeners are volunteers who have received training in research-based horticultural practices. They also volunteer their time to share this knowledge within their local communities. The goal of the Master Gardener program is to conserve and enhance our natural resources while improving the quality of life of Spokane County residents.

Master Gardeners Give Research-Based Information

Volunteers answer questions about a wide variety of horticulture issues, including plant selection, installation and maintenance; plant problem diagnosis and treatment; environmentally sound gardening practices, pest identification and management; and effective landscaping practices.

Upcoming Classes & Events

Master Gardeners are Volunteer Outreach Educators

Volunteers teach youth, adults and seniors about gardening, researching and writing educational information, staffing information booths at community events, and other activities.

Master Gardener Volunteers make significant contributions to furthering safe and sustainable gardening practices. If you are a gardener in Spokane County, want to increase and share your knowledge, and are available to volunteer, think about applying to Become a WSU Master Gardener.
