Yadi Guerrero grew up in the Lower Valley and is passionate about community-engaged research that promotes organization and system-level change. She aims to collaborate with her community and provide quality evidence-based programming to prevent adverse health outcomes for youth and families county and state-wide.

As an experienced Prevention Scientist, she has been involved in various community-based studies targeting childhood obesity, parent-child stress and coping strategies, and housing stability for domestic violence survivors. She specializes in culturally adaptive programs and engaging vulnerable populations in community research. Her research has given her the opportunity to work with diverse populations such as migrant and immigrant farmworker families, low-socioeconomic status families, domestic violence survivors, and individuals with diverse racial, ethnic, and sexual identities.

As the Family Resiliency, Health and Wellness Specialist, she will aim to strengthen community partnerships with WSU Extension, establish infrastructures for nutrition and food safety programs, work towards the sustainability of the current programs, and seek to implement new youth and family programs that fit the community’s needs.
