Join us at this free, hands-on Explore 4-H event. Participants will learn about identifying the Big Leaf Maple, learn about the equipment needed in a small operation, do some actual tapping, get to taste sap right from the tree, see the initial boil-down process outdoors, and be able to help “finish” a small batch. Each family will get their own small bottle of finished syrup to take home. The event is open to local youth and families. You must RSVP no later than February 6 if you would like to participate. This event will take place in Lakebay, WA (approx. 50 minutes from Shelton), driving directions will be furnished to all registered participants. Please wear sturdy shoes/boots and plan to dress for the weather.
