4-H Internship Position Description

Position Title: 4-H Program Intern
Department: Snohomish County 4-H
Reports To: 4-H Program Coordinators and Faculty
Position Type: Internship (Part-time / Temporary)
Location: 6705 Puget Park Drive, Snohomish, WA 98296

Position Summary:

The 4-H Program Intern will support the delivery of youth development programs by assisting with a wide range of administrative, event, curriculum, and organizational tasks. This role is ideal for individuals seeking work experience in education, youth programming, non-profit work, or public service. The intern will gain hands-on experience in program management, event coordination, and community outreach while supporting the mission of 4-H.

Key Responsibilities:

Office Administration

  • Scan, file, and shred program documents following confidentiality protocols
  • Maintain inventory of program materials and supplies
  • Organize and restock office and program supply areas

Event Support & Outreach

  • Represent 4-H at community and outreach events by tabling and engaging with the public
  • Assist in evaluating events through surveys and feedback collection
  • Support the coordination and execution of youth service projects
  • Help with logistics and task organization before, during, and after events

Curriculum & Program Assistance

  • Assist in the delivery of equine educational lessons and activities
  • Maintain and organize the 4-H lending library, including tracking materials and creating check-out systems

Organizational Management

  • Attend and assist with 4-H Council and County Council meetings
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions to improve program effectiveness
  • Support youth and adult volunteers in leadership roles

Qualifications:

  • Young adult who has graduated from 4-H in the past three years in Snohomish County
  • Desire to learn and grow as a student or professional
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable interacting with youth, families, and the public
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic office equipment, or willingness to learn
  • Ability to attend occasional evening or weekend events

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with 4-H or youth programs (as a participant or volunteer)
  • Desire to learn and grow as a young professional
  • Ability to get to working locations (4-H Annex and Willis Tucker Park, festivals)
