Swine Pre-show / Weigh-in: May 9, 2016, 4pm to 8pm, Fairgrounds
On May 9, be sure to have your completed “2016 Official Market Livestock Pre-Show Entry Form” correctly filled out for each animal being weighed. The form also has the minimum and maximum weights information for the large animal species. The form is available at the Extension office as well as online at http://extension.wsu.edu/klickitat/4h/4-h-recordkeeping/ .
Animals acquired outside of Washington should be accompanied by a certificate of veterinary inspection done prior to coming into the state. For complete information, view the WSDA resources page at http://agr.wa.gov/FoodAnimal/AvianHealth/Fairs.aspx.
There is a 45 pound minimum weight requirement for swine at pre-show/weigh-in. The Klickitat County Fair Board approved this change beginning with the 2013 Klickitat County Fair. Although 45 lbs is the minimum weight for pre-show, it is recommended that at least 50 to 55 lbs would be a more ideal beginning weight for swine. Call the Extension office you have any questions.
