Person In Charge The Washington State Food Code required that all food
facilities have a Person In Charge (PIC) that has extensive food safety knowledge beyond that required to get a food handlers card. WSU Extension partnered with the Health Department to design and deliver a four-hour food safety course that addresses the food rule changes. The training gives food handlers the food safety knowledge to meet the Person In Charge knowledge base, improve or maintain good health inspection scores and eliminate or reduce the number of food borne illnesses in the community.
