Kitsap Farm Tour

The 1st Annual Kitsap Farm Tour will be Sunday, August 13th, 2023 from 10am – 4pm! This is an opportunity for the public to visit multiple farms across Kitsap in a one-day, self-guided tour.  Farms taking part are listed below. The tour is an initiative of the Kitsap Agritourism Coalition, a group of dedicated farmers working together to promote agritourism in Kitsap County. The event is supported by WSU Kitsap Extension, State of Washington Tourism and Visit Kitsap Peninsula.

The event is FREE to the public with a suggested donation of $10 per family/car. All donations go directly towards helping the Kitsap Agritourism Coalition of farmers continue to grow and improve the event for future years.

There will also be opportunities to donate the day of the event at all host sites on the tour. Just look for the Farm Tour Welcome Booths to make your donation and support this great event!

Farms listed below are open to the public for a one day only, self-guided farm tour, on August 13th from 10am – 4pm. You can access your digital copy of the farm tour 2023 map here (click button below) or pick up a printed copy around town or at any of the host farms during the tour. We hope to see you out at one (or all) farms on August 13th!

NORTH KITSAP FARMS

The Smithshyre

The Smithshyre is a 5-acre homestead offering farm tours, baby goat playtime sessions and Kitsap Goat Yoga. The Shyre offers education for new and beginning farmers looking to start their own urban homestead as well as educating the public about the importance of farming.

ACTIVITIES for the day:
• Baby Goat Playtime
• Animal Experiences: viewing of turkeys & chickens, interactions with sheep and lambs
• Fiber demonstration
• Onsite Farm Stand
• Tours of greenhouse, 1/4 acre market garden and permaculture / orchards

Winney Farm

(Formerly Heyday Farm Store)

The Winney Family started a farm here in the 40’s and were a big provider for the community. We now honor the roots of this 20-acre farm with their name as we provide beef, pork, chicken, eggs, lamb, pumpkins and more through farmers markets, CSA and our self-serve farm store open to the public daily.

ACTIVITIES for the day:
• Onsite farm store / farm products
• Animal Experiences: Lamb/sheep area, pig area, chicken viewing
• Kids games & activities
• Food options: Hamburgers and Beef dogs, chips, soda, water
• On site Beehive observation, education, and honey sales!

PARTNERS on site for event:
BLUETREE Farm and Forest – Bainbridge Island’s only lavender farm will be on site with lavender cotton candy!


 

Farm Kitchen

Farm Kitchen is a story of local, sustainable farmland preservation. With a community-centered commercial kitchen, private event venue, and working produce and flower farm, Farm Kitchen inspires connectedness to land and agriculture through experiences made for everyone. Come mosey through the vegetable and flower fields at Farm Kitchen. Take part in our scavenger hunt and bring home a few farm fresh goodies!

ACTIVITIES for the day:
– Kids activities – including a fun family scavenger hunt!
– Self-guided farm path/walking tours
– Flower viewing and sales

– Wokcraft – providing Hot food items for sale, using locally sourced ingredients when able.

Beaver Bend Farm / Bushel and Barrel Ciderhouse

Beaver Bend Farm is run in conjunction with Bushel and Barrel Ciderhouse, promoting agritourism along with craft ciders. Beaver Bend Farm hosts Scottish Highland Cattle, Kune Kune pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits, alpacas, donkeys, sheep, and an assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables. We have a lot planned to make your stop enjoyable. We will have info booths on Animal Husbandry, Cidermaking, and even have a mini petting zoo set up for an immersive experience the family will remember!

ACTIVITIES for the day:
• Animal Interactions/petting zoo: goats, baby pigs, rabbits
• Animal viewing/feeding areas: goats, sheep, Scottish Highland cow, alpacas, mini donkeys.
• Farm product booth
• Cider-making Info Station
• Animal Husbandry Info Station
• On site cider house with local cider offerings / snack items
• Live Music! (featuring Tugboat and Davids Lion)

CENTRAL KITSAP FARMS

Pheasant Fields Farm

Pheasant Fields Farm is a family farm owned by the Johanson family. Originally it was part of a 640-acre John Holmes homestead that Peder Peterson, a logger by trade, purchased 20 acres in 1885. His nephew Conrad Peterson developed the farm into an egg ranch in the early 1900′s. Nikki Johanson’s family purchased the farm in 1949. Since that time, the farm has become more diversified in recent years by adding other livestock, vegetable production and agritourism. Come out and enjoy all that this historical farm has to offer!

• Onsite farm store/ gift shop will be open to the public
• Animal Experiences: Goats, ducks, chickens
• Kids activities
• Corn maze: Preliminary viewing and possibly walking the paths will be allowed

Courter Country Farm

Courter Country Farm is an organic flower farm and event venue in Poulsbo, WA. Come for a getaway in one of their AirBnb’s to relax and recharge in nature while being minutes from town. This farm has lots to see, including animal experience, onsite play area and more!

• Flower bar (build your own farm fresh flower bouquets!)
• Animal Experiences: Goats, chickens, rabbits, alpacas
• Kids play area
• Flower garden path/tour

Red Roof Ranch

Olalla Vineyard and Winery

A unique destination vineyard and winery that encourages and promotes agricultural tourism by bringing in tourists and local citizens who prefer a unique wine tasting experience in a naturally beautiful country setting. Olalla Vineyard currently has 2.5 acres of vineyard under management. All grapes grown on the estate are processed on the property. We offer tasting room and wine sales, wine club, tours of the vineyard and winery, live music events, business meeting and special occasion venue, weddings, Dinner in the Vineyard and more.
