Chronological Deadlines

October

  • 10/1: Welcome to the new 4-H year! Enroll on 4-H Online
  • 4-H Kick Off and Appreciation Events
  • For existing 4-H clubs, Leaders Council, and Livestock Market Animal Auction Committee:
    • Clubs determine which process to use for auditing their financial accounts.
    • Audit is implemented and an audit report is submitted to the club treasurer.
    • Club Treasurer completes the Annual Financial Summary.

November

  • Give thanks – no deadlines in November! (Remember that the 12/1 deadline for submitting all of your financial material is coming up.)
  • Regional Teen Rally Events

December

  • 12/1: 4-H Club Leaders, Leaders Council, and Livestock Market Animal Auction Committee submit the Annual Financial Summary, Audit Report, and Property Inventory Form to the County Extension Office for the previous 4-H year.   • Second Sunday in December 4-H Leadership Conference located at WSU Everett Campus

January

  • First two weeks of January Know Your Government Conference Enrollment

February

  • Presidents Day Weekend – Know Your Government  (high school 4-H participants and chaperones must be enrolled and paid by mid-January to attend)
  • San Juan County Ag Summit

March

  • 3/1: San Juan County 4-H Animal Project Enrollment.
    • 4-H members wishing to exhibit an animal at the San Juan County Fair must be enrolled in 4-H Online by this date. For more information about these rules, please refer to the San Juan County 4-H Policy
    • All clubs offering animal projects must be established by this date.
  • 4-H Ignite Conference

April

  • Whatcom County Youth Fair
  • 120 days prior to Fair Ownership Deadlines
    • Market Beef – You must own your market beef animal by this date to qualify to auction your animal at the San Juan County Fair.
  • 4-H National Conference
  • 4/25 San Juan Youth Fair & Public Presentation Day

May

  • 90 days prior to Fair Ownership Deadlines
    • Horses, Breeding Beef, Alpacas, Llamas, Dairy (except replacement Heifers)
  • 5/1: Pierre Franklin & Keys Family Awards of Merits open for Applications
  • 5/15Horse Certificate and Horse Lease Agreement forms are due to your County Extension Office. These forms are necessary so that you can participate in the San Juan County Fair.
  • 5/30 Showmanship Clinic & Spring Weigh-in

June

  • 6/1: Fair Entry is open for Fair registrations Online Fair Entry Registration
  • 6/1: San Juan County 4-H Non-Animal (Still Life) Project Enrollment.
    • 4-H members wishing to exhibit a non-animal or still life item at the San Juan County Fair must be enrolled in 4-H Online by this date.For more information about these rules, please refer to the San Juan County 4-H Policy
    • All clubs offering non-animal (still life) projects must be established by this date.
  • 60 days prior to Fair Ownership Deadlines
    • Swine, Lambs, Goats, Cats, Dogs, replacement Heifers.
  • Teen Conference in Pullman, WA –  WSU Campus

July

  • 7/1: For all 4-H members who will sell a large animal at auction (market beef, alternative beef, hog, meat goat, lamb), the “Intent to Sell” and “Sifting Committee Memorandum” forms are due to the County Extension Office.
  • 7/1 Deadline to submit your Camping (PDF) & Wristband Request (PDF) (Leaders) Forms to the Fair Office
  • 45 days prior to Fair Ownership Deadlines
    • Rabbits, Cavies, Poultry. This deadline also applies to participation in the auction at the San Juan County Fair (turkey trio, alternative poultry trio, broiler trio, rabbit fryer trio, pullet production trio).
  • 7/15 Fair Entry will close at 9:59 PM
  • 7/15: “Intent to Sell” and “Sifting Committee Memorandum” for 4-H members who will auction small livestock and/or eggs at the San Juan County Fair.
  • 7/15: Financial support applications for higher education are due to the County Extension Office. Applications for the “Keys 4-H Award of Merit” and the “Pierre Franklin 4-H Award of Merit
  • 7/20 San Juan County Community Service Day to prepare for San Juan County Fair

August

  • 4-H Fair Schedule
  • 8/9: Entry Day for all Still Life (except Food, Horticulture, & Table Setting)
  • 8/12: Entry Day for following Departments: Food, Horticulture & Table Setting – due by noon.
  • 8/12:
  • 8/13-8/16: Fair Open to the Public
  • Sunday of Fair – Leaders Council Meeting to determine individual award winners in the Marie Boe 4-H Building
  • 8/31: Complete Record Books entered for judging to County Extension Office

September – October

  • 9/31: End of 4-H Year. Club leaders submit lists of 4-H members who successfully completed their year to County Extension Office. Member Completion Requirements and Online Submission Form
  • 10/1: Welcome to the new 4-H year! Enroll on 4-H Online
  • Volunteer Training, Awards Ceremony – Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony
  • 10/1 – 10/7 First week in October is 4-H Week
  • Month of October Kick-Off Events

In order to participate in the auction, you will need to meet all enrollment deadlines, animal ownership deadlines, and otherwise be a 4-H member in good status. Participation in the auction requires your utmost attention to detail; it will help you develop your marketing and sales experience along with the challenges of raising animals for sale. Your animals will need to meet requirements. Please review ALL auction documents and requirements carefully, and ask your 4-H club leaders for assistance.   • Sunday prior to Fair: Entry submittal deadline for all Still Life (except Food, Horticulture, & Table Setting)
  • Wednesday prior to Fair: Entry Day for following Departments: Food, Horticulture & Table Setting – due by noon.
