Master Gardener Seed Share Day & Seed Saving Seminar

February 18, 2017 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm

$10

SOLD OUT!    Master Gardeners Heirloom Seed Lending Library

For several years, Master Gardeners have been planting and caring for open-pollinated, rare and endangered vegetables in our Heirloom Garden. We developed this garden to help preserve these varieties, experiment with unusual plants and cultivation techniques, discover good tasting vegetable varieties that thrive in Yakima’s climate, and establish a Seed Lending Library, so we can share.

We now have the beginnings of that seed library, and we’re ready to start sharing! It’s important that borrowers from this library also participate by returning seed to the library, so that it may grow and be sustained into the future. For you to properly take part in this endeavor, it’s important that you are familiar with the process of seed saving. Thus, this class!

Led by Past Washington State Master Gardener of the Year, Phyllis Pugnetti, you will participate in this workshop, where you will learn how to save seeds and become an authorized member of the Heirloom Seed Lending Library. It will be fun, and informative… what better way to spend a Saturday morning than with a group of people who love gardening as much as you do!

Upon completion of this 3-hour class, you will be able to borrow seeds from the Library, grow heirloom vegetables, and return seeds to the Library to help sustain it.  Cost to attend: $10.00.
