Clark County, WA –– Eight farms will be open to the public on Saturday, September 17th to show the bounty of local agriculture and give Clark County residents an opportunity to tour and meet their area farmers. With nearly two thousand farms throughout Clark County providing fresh produce and meats, this is a great opportunity to introduce the family to the farmers who make our local agriculture strong.
Two farms that are new to the Harvest Celebration will be part of the tour this year, including Good Year Farms and Flat Tack Farm. The other farms that are part of this celebration are Get To Gather Farm, 78th Street Heritage Farm, Serendipity Alpaca Ranch, Gather and Feast Farm, Coyote Ridge Ranch, and Gifts of the Planet Farm.
Farms will offer a variety of fun-filled events such as animal viewing, self-guided tours, catered lunch (must pre-order and pay for from Gather and Feast Farm), U-pick vegetables and flowers, craft-making, veggie and salsa tasting, and photo ops with alpacas. Participants will be able to meet their local farmers; purchase fresh produce, U-pick, cut flowers, and other farm products; see alpacas, chickens, Scottish Highland Cows, chickens and other livestock; and tour vegetable fields and flower gardens.
This year’s Harvest Celebration will also feature four local farms that have been recognized by WSU Clark County Extension for showing a commitment to stewardship. Get to Gather Farm, Serendipity Alpaca Ranch, Gather and Feast Farm, and Gifts of the Planet Farm have been awarded a Doing Our Part for Clean Water sign, for implementing practices that protect clean water and natural resources.
Terry Koper, Small Acreage Program Coordinator, says, “These farms demonstrate stewardship in Clark County and they’re an excellent place to learn about sustainable farming practices. This celebration offers residents a great opportunity to meet local farmers and show support for Clark County agriculture.”
Let’s all stay safe! Socially distance. Wear masks indoors. Mask up outdoors when it’s not possible to socially distance. The map and farm descriptions and more information is available online at http://go.wsu.edu/smallacreage. Participating farms will be open to visitors from 10 am to 3 pm.
Coyote Ridge Ranch, Gifts of the Planet, Gather and Feast Farm, Flat Tack Farm, and Get to Gather farm will feature farm-fresh produce for sale.
