Digital Accessibility Project Coordinator

Location: WSU Kitsap Extension, 345 6th St. Suite 550, Bremerton WA 98337

Term: May 1st – December 31st, 2025

Schedule: Part-Time up to 12hrs/week, Flexible/Hybrid optional

The Digital Accessibility Project Coordinator is a part-time, term-limited position, responsible for transitioning WSU Kitsap Extension media toward more usable and accessible digital content. This position is expected to start in May 2025 with an end date of December 31st, 2025. The project coordinator will provide leadership, advocacy, training, and technical assistance to ensure digital content will meet ADA guidelines, principles of effective universal design, and Web accessibility standards. The coordinator will work to transition all current WSU Kitsap Extension digital content to fully accessible files and recommend and implement systems that promote and support digital accessibility at the county Extension office.

The ideal candidate will be an innovative thinker and adept problem solver who champions the belief that digital accessibility is a shared responsibility among all content creators. They will be passionate about promoting accountability for all digital content authors. Additionally, the candidate will seek workflow efficiencies and develop learning solutions to share with the Kitsap team.

Essential Functions

The Digital Accessibility Project Coordinator will have the following responsibilities:

  • Work with the WSU Kitsap Director, WSU CAHNRS Web team and other professional networks in the area of digital accessibility and universal design.
  • Researches and remains current with accessibility laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 AA.
  • Perform accessibility reviews and provide remediation on program media content (including video) and electronic documents (including PDFs).
  • Train users on automated web assessment tool(s) and how to make digital content accessible.
  • Lead group and individual trainings for WSU Kitsap Extension staff regarding accessible website content

Required Qualifications

  • The candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or three years of similar work experience within information systems, educational technology, communications or a related field.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of universal design and ability to transition current digital content and guide staff in meeting digital accessibility standards.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of best practices for accessible documents, media, and other digital tools.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of captioning and transcription production for video and audio files.
  • Working knowledge and skills in the area of assistive technology and understanding of how individuals with disabilities interface with accessible digital content.
  • Experience conducting and assessing training sessions.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Able to work independently and attain project goals with minimal direct supervision
  • Self-motivated and able to organize and prioritize work
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Pay Range:

Communications Consultant 1 = $19.06 – $25.34

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
