Posted by bramwell | August 14, 2019

Want to taste beer for science?

We are looking for volunteers to evaluate the sensory quality of beer samples during the Tumwater Artesian BrewFest. You must be at least 21 years of age to participate in this study. The evaluation will take 15-20 minutes of your time.  You will receive a wedge of Cougar Gold Cheese as compensation for participating in this study, valued at approximately $3.

***Please do not participate in this panel if you have an allergy to gluten, are pregnant or are expecting to be pregnant, or are visibly intoxicated. You must be wearing a valid wrist-band to participate in this study.

This study has been approved by the Washington State University Institutional Review Board, and poses minimum risk besides significant time.

The evaluation will take 15-20 minutes of your time. You will be asked to taste 4, 1 oz or 30 mL samples of beer and provide a description of each beer in your own words; rank the beer samples based on your overall liking; select specific descriptors that best differentiate the beer samples.

If you are interested in participating, or have any additional questions regarding the study, please contact Evan Craine at evan.craine@wsu.edu for more information.
