Conservation Easements

A conservation easement pays landowners for the development rights on their property while allowing them to retain ownership of their land and keep farming and/or conserve habitat. It’s completely voluntary and flexible to fit your needs but it is a permanent legal agreement. If interested in exploring a conservation easement, review this information sheet (pdf) and then reach out to the Thurston Conservation District or WSU Extension.
