Free Virtual Strengthening Families Class
For Families of 10-14-year-olds
Wednesday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. and Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m. beginning April 28th.
Does your family need a boost? Could you use support? Would you like more tools to support your youth’s success?
The Cowlitz County WSU Extension Parenting Team will hold its first Virtual Strengthening Families Class for families of 10–14-year-old youth on Wednesday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. and Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m. beginning April 28th. There is no fee for this class, which will take place via Zoom.
The class is designed to help families deal with the stress involved with raising youth and dealing with everyday life. Parents and youth will solve problems together and build family strengths through conversation, sharing what works and what doesn’t, and skill building exercises. Youth will engage in hands-on activities around reaching goals, resisting peer pressure, and appreciating parents.
The Strengthening Families 10-14 Program is an evidence-based parenting program offered in Cowlitz County since 2003 and has been adapted to be delivered virtually. The youth sessions will take place on Wednesday afternoons at 4 p.m. – April 28, May 5, 12, 19, 26, June 2, 9 – and the parent and family sessions will take place on Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. – April 29, May 6,13,20, 27, June 3, 10.
