4-H COUNCIL MEETINGS – Join Us Digitally or In Person
We would love to have you join us for the next Horse Council meeting at 6:30 pm on Monday, March 2.
Join us at the next 4-H Council meeting on Thursday, March 19. These meetings are the best way to share your ideas, get up to the minute information and help shape the direction of YOUR 4-H program. The meetings will be held in person with the option to join remotely, and you can join us via Zoom or with a phone call if you have a Zoom account by clicking the links above or available at https://www.facebook.com/graysharbor4h/  Connect with Tracie to test the system in advance.

4-H CAMP REGISTRATION

4-H Families, this is a reminder that Summer Camp registration opens March 1st.  Registration will be available for all 4-H members who were enrolled prior to December 1st.  If you have any questions or need help with the process, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Tracie and Falyn at falyn.taylor@wsu.edu .  Log in to submit event registration at https://4honline.com/#/user/sign-in

SUPER SATURDAY WORKSHOPS – April 11

Super Saturday is an opportunity for 4-H members of all ages to try new skills (like wind power and plant propagation) and practice refining skills (like building an attention-grabbing educational display or adding matting to photos for entry at the fair) at the WSU Extension office in Elma.
4-H members pre-register for three project-focused workshops and spend the morning learning alongside fellow 4-H members.  Sign up by March 29 at https://supersaturdaygh26.4honline.com/ or log in at https://4honline.com/#/user/sign-in and navigate to the “Events” tab under your family “Member List.”
Volunteer-facilitated sessions include:  Photography, Planting Flowers, Attention-Grabbing Boards, Matting Photos and Art for the Fair, and Harnessing the Wind for Electric Power.

RECORD BOOK WORKSHOP SERIES – each month

The Record Book Workshop continues Wednesday, March 25 from 6–8 PM at the WSU Extension Office in Elma!  Come start the new year strong and learn tips and tricks to get ready for the new 4-H year!  Thank you to the 4-H Council and 4-H Horse Council for hosting this ongoing series!  Record books are a great way for 4-H members to document their project progress and look back at all they have accomplished.  Record Books may also be submitted for review and judging at the end of the 4-H year for a chance to earn an award at the annual recognition event!

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The Grays Harbor County 4-H Council is pleased to offer educational scholarships to graduating high school seniors currently enrolled in the Grays Harbor County 4-H Program. Applicants must have accumulated at least three years of 4-H affiliation.

In addition, Washington State 4-H is pleased to offer multiple scholarships. Current and former Washington State 4-H members are eligible to apply.

2026 UI/WSU YOUTH LIVESTOCK FIELD DAYS – Register Now for March Events

Hey 4-H families! We are here to share some great livestock learning opportunities hosted by other counties.  Upcoming Livestock Programs:
> Beef- Saturday, March 7 in Lewiston at the Nez Perce Co. Fairgrounds
> Swine- Saturday, March 14 in Asotin at the Asotin Co. Fairgrounds
> Sheep and Goat- Saturday, March 21 in Moscow at the University of Idaho

These are high quality events that have been very well attended by both youth and adults in the past. Registration fees are $10 per individual and you can sign up at: https://otc.cdc.nicusa.com/Public2.aspx?portal=id&organization=Clearwater%20County%20Extension%20-%20Adult%20Programming University of Idaho and Washington State University Youth Livestock Field Days provide research-based information to 4-H and FFA members regarding the production, showing and marketing of youth livestock projects that meet or exceed livestock industry standards and consumer expectations.  Space is limited, don’t wait!

4-H MARKET LIVESTOCK PROJECT UPDATES
4-H members (Junior, Intermediate, and Senior ages) planning to participate in the Grays Harbor Youth Livestock Auction need to have registration information submitted by March 15 at https://forms.gle/r7wauey3cmJgqTTQ9 , which is also available at https://extension.wsu.edu/graysharbor/4-h/links/

4-H members (Junior, Intermediate, and Senior ages) planning to participate in the Grays Harbor Youth Livestock Auction ALSO need to have their 4-H enrollment profiles updated by April 1 at https://v2.4honline.com/

Register at 2026 4-H Market Livestock Project – Recordkeeping Check-in – Fill out form or https://forms.office.com/r/Wmz2SzZPVZ to schedule a check-in for your 4-H Market Livestock Project recordkeeping progress, offered at the WSU Extension office in Elma on the following dates:

  • Thursday, May 21 (1p – 6p)                           Monday, June 15 (9a – 3p) (3p – 6p)
  • Wednesday, June 17 (1p – 6p)                      Tuesday, June 23 (9a – 3p) (3p – 6p)

Check in and show us how the recordkeeping component of your project has been progressing so that you can complete this step in your agreement and participate in the market livestock auction with the Grays Harbor Youth Livestock Auction.  Record keeping resources will be sent via email to members.

CALLING ALL BAKERS! – Register by March 29
Register by Sunday, March 29 at https://forms.office.com/r/Y9zrSi4kLf to let us know which treat you are planning to donate so we can share our excitement with the community!  Please consider helping the Grays Harbor 4-H Council by donating your favorite treats! Bake your favorite brownies, cookies, pie, cake, specialty item, etc.

> 1 Standalone Treat (Pie, Cake, etc.) OR 1 Dozen (12) Handheld Treats (cookies, brownies, etc.)

GH 4-H SPRING BINGO & DESSERT AUCTION – April 12
B-I-N-G-O … it’s almost time to GO! The Grays Harbor 4-H Council is looking forward to seeing you, your family, friends, and members of the community at the 4-H Spring Bingo and Dessert Auction fundraiser!  Join us from 1-4 pm on Sunday, April 12 at the Borden-Seabert Exhibition Hall (Dog Barn) on the GHC Fairgrounds in Elma.  There will be fun prizes for every round and snacks available for purchase!


4-H ENROLLMENT DUE – April 1

Online enrollment is now open for the 2025-2026 year at  https://v2.4honline.com/ and is due by April 1 for new members to be eligible to exhibit 4-H projects at the GHC Fair.  Information about enrolling can be found online, and if you have any questions, please reach out to your club leader or Tracie.  https://extension.wsu.edu/graysharbor/4-h/forms/

4-H DOG PROJECT PREFAIR CLINIC – Register by April 27 at https://forms.office.com/r/DQuhvcVLSZ
The 4-H Dog Project is hosting an opportunity for Grays Harbor and Mason County 4-H members to participate in an educational 4-H dog project clinic (and complete the dog project clinic requirement for participation at the county fair) at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds in Elma.  This event will take place in the Borden-Seabert Building (Dog Barn). * Please note that a 4-H Horse Clinic/Show will also take place at the GHC Fairgrounds on this date, so allow extra time to find parking and walk your dogs past the arena to the Dog Barn.  
Saturday, May 9
8:30 am:  Check-in begins
8:45 am:  Show Briefing/Meeting
9:00 am:  Showmanship Classes begin (Required for 4-H members using this as a clinic opportunity)
12 – 12:30 pm:  Lunch Break (If time allows)
12:30 pm:  Obedience Classes begin (Required for 4-H members using this as a clinic opportunity)
** Dogs will remain on leash at all times, except for those times when they are in the show ring for an obedience class that includes an off-leash component.
** Dress Code: 4-H Members participating in Dog Showmanship classes should wear neat, clean, and functional clothing that complement the dog. It should be appropriate for the event and not distract from the dog’s presentation.
** Exhibitors will need to bring:
> a crate for their dog to stay in during the show
> collars and leashes for showmanship and obedience classes
> a chair to sit next to crate (optional)

WA STATE 4-H HORSE PROGRAM OPEN OFFICE HOURS

TEEN RALLY – Save the Date for May 2-3
We will be hosting a regional leadership summit called “Teen Rally – Blossom into Leadership” from May 2nd through 3rd.  Falyn and I would love your support in sharing this opportunity with your 4-H members in 8th–12th grade.  Teen rallies are for 4-H youth ages 13-18. Don’t miss out on a great opportunity to make new friends, have fun, and learn about leadership!  An opportunity to connect and learn more about leadership with fellow teens in a fun summer camp setting and enjoy hands-on workshops in leadership, community engagement, creative arts, and more. Arrival: 10:00 AM, May 2 at Panhandle Lake 4-H Camp Registration includes: Lodging, meals, and all activities

There will also be an adult volunteer training portion focused on building skills to better partner with teens. The cost of this event is $50 for registration and includes an overnight stay at Panhandle Lake 4-H Camp. The adult portion is included at no cost for those interested.
