dogThe dog project enables members to learn responsibility through working with their dog in obedience, agility and/or showmanship. Dogs of all breeds, size, and color are welcome. A few of the objectives for Dog 4-H in Washington are:

  • exercise responsible pet care and ownership
  • practice methods of dog obedience training
  • recognize characteristics of dogs
  • study dog care, nutrition, health, responsible breeding, and anatomy
  • use organizational skills, including judging and record keeping
  • develop and use life skills, including decision making, public speaking, team work, sportsmanship, respect for others, and community service
  • realize the value and dignity of work and careers
  • learn to use science processing skills
